How To Locate Cerebral Palsy Symptoms

Symptoms of cerebral palsy can sometimes be difficult for first time mother's to be aware of, because they are usually unaware of the development of infants. So I wanted to discuss the early cerebral palsy symptoms.

The most important symptom to be aware of is the inability of your child reaching the proper milestones that infant's should be making, such as holding their head up, rolling over, sitting without support or even with support, smiling, crawling, walking and holding things with one hand. The timing that your child will perform these task are different for every child, it would be nice if you knew that once they turned 6 months old that they would be sitting up with support, or at one years old they would be walking, but there is not set time. What there is though is a general age that they should be doing these things, and if they are passing these milestones then there could be a possible problem.

Some of the most visible symptoms of cerebral palsy can be the failure for your child to respond to sounds, or follow things with his eyes, has no facial expressions, and drools practically all the time. Now most infants drool and sometimes it will even feel that they are drooling so much that you have changed them far too often, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they have cerebral palsy. So don't start calling your doctor. These symptoms in an infant won't be as visible as they will be when the child gets a bit older. This is when you will really notice the possible cerebral palsy symptoms. The reason for this is because as the child grows the nervous system will develop and this is what cerebral palsy affects. So this is the reason that you will need to pay close attention to the milestones that your child makes. This is the single most important symptom of cerebral palsy.

Here are some other symptoms:

· Child is unable to hold things, · Has no muscle control, so he/she will not have balance or unable to walk. · You child has a hard time sucking. · The child's body is very loose and relaxed or it is too stiff.

There are many different symptoms and even though there are different types of cerebral palsy most symptoms will be the same. If you notice any of these symptoms and you feel that there may be a problem, there you should talk to your child's pediatrician and explain to him what you are noticing. He/she will take a close look at your child and tell you what you should be looking for.
