Not all of the therapy treatments will work on every patient because each case is different and unique in there own way. But there is a great chance that you will be able to find some treatment for your cerebral palsy. The therapy will be decided based on a team of doctors, they will evaluate your type of cerebral palsy and then set up a treatment that they believe will help you. This team of doctors will consist of an orthopedist, psychologist, physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech-language therapist, and a social worker.

Let's take a look at some of the different types of cerebral palsy treatments that are available to you.

Behavioral therapy will help to improve physical, mental and communicative skills. And to accomplish this through different types of activities depending on your age and disability.

Drug therapy will help to control seizures and possible stop them altogether. Because of the uniqueness of cerebral palsy some drugs may work and other's will not. Your doctor may need to use a combination of medications.

Physical therapy will help to avoid deterioration of the muscle tissue. This will happen from not using your muscles enough. Physical therapy will also help to prevent your muscles from becoming stiff, and not being able to move. If this happens you can have surgery to correct your muscles and give you back movement, this will involve making your tendons and muscles longer or shorter. Before this surgery is done the doctor's will need to evaluate you very closely to determine which muscles need to be corrected.

There is a fairly new treatment for cerebral palsy that may shock you, botox injections. Yes you read that right. It will help to releave many symptoms of cerebral palsy, such as helping your muscles to relax so they will not lock up, and it helps with muscle spasms and stiffness. You will need to get these injections anywhere from three to six months. You should talk to your doctor about it, or do some research online about it.

The many available cerebral palsy treatments are determined by your individual needs. If you are unable to speak then you will need the speech therapy, but usually you will always need to go to a physical therapist. The most important thing that you can do is not to give up on yourself if you are suffering with cerebral palsy and stay moving and keeping those muscles going.
